What’s In My Bag: Grace Lee
By Polly Blitzer / October 4, 2017
Twelve tubes of lipstick? Poetry scribbled on Sephora receipts? Keys to a Harley? You can tell a lot about a person by the contents of her bag. In our What’s in My Bag series, we ask beauty and style insiders to spill the contents of their purses to share with you their must-have gems.
The Subject
If you’re following fashion month beauty looks, you’re probably already stalking Maybelline makeup artist Grace Lee on Instagram and Twitter. As a Maybelline makeup artist, Grace works backstage to create looks for brands like Public School, Ji Oh and BeauFille, as well as beauties like Gigi Hadid, Taylor Schilling and Eva Longoria. Her work has also appeared in Elle, W, Nylon and international fashion magazines. It goes without saying, but I'll say it anyway: she's born with it.
Read on to see what Grace totes around in her Mansur Gavriel bucket bag of tricks.
The Bag
Grace's go-to handbag this season is a black Mansur Gavriel bucket bag.
What's Inside
"In every purse and makeup bag I own, I always have a Maybelline Baby Lips. I always have one. It's great for lips and also for rubbing into your cuticles when they are dry."
"I use Garnier Clean The Soothing Remover Cleansing Towelettes to remove makeup and cleanse the skin. They're great for removing makeup quickly from the back of my hand [when I'm working on a model]. They don't leave a residue."
"I love this Maybelline New York Master Contour face contouring kit, because you can use the contour color for eye shadow as well as for contouring. The blush has amazing pigment, and I'm a sucker for a good highlighter. It's very convenient."
"I spray La Roche-Posey Thermal Spring Water for Sensitive Skin on skin before moisturizing. I also use it to refresh an overly matte foundation."
"Maybelline New York The Nudes Eye Shadow Palette has great colors that help you create any eye look imaginable."
"These Muji Thin Cotton Swabs are an essential to my kit. They have tiny tips, great for creating precise eye looks."
The Quirky and Unexpected
"You never know if there will be food backstage! I try to carry an energy bar or nuts in my purse and kit."
"I only chew Pur gum. There's no aspartame."
"I made an emergency kit that includes a hotel sewing kit, Band-Aids and straws."
