Simply Statement-Making at Victoria Beckham - NYFW Fall 2012
Diane Kendal for Sunday Riley created “gorgeous dewy skin” by prepping complexions with Juno Transformative Lipid Serum and evening out tone with the brand’s tinted moisturizer. She created the red lip by layering a matte orange-red blush over Sunday Riley lip color in Persuasive, a blue red to create a “modern version of the classic red.” Victoria “wanted something to make a statement but to keep that purity still, because all the clothes are kind of quiet and architectural, very slim and there are blocks of color, too,” Diane explained backstage.
On nails, Roxanne Valinoti for CND created a “luxe manicure” by layering neutrals - a coat of the brand’s warm-toned Putty topped with Marshmallow Rose, a cool sheer. The effect was an “all-purpose nude” that didn’t compete with the statement lip.
Meanwhile, Redken Creative Consultant Guido Palau created a minimalist style for the hair, but with a high-fashion edge. “We can do simple hair but make it very stylish if we make it perfect,” he explained. Here, perfection took shape as a “pin straight” texture with extensions cut into a “graphic” blunt line at the ends. To create the look, Guido prepped strands with Redken Satinwear 02 blow dry lotion to tame flyaways before blowing hair out straight, parting on the side and smoothing with a flat iron. As a finishing touch, he added a “shock of wetness” to the front, creating a contrasting texture with Hardwear 16 gel and Shine Flash 02 Glistening Mist. In the case of these products, Guido explained, “I use them as sort of accessories to get different textures and different shines in the hair, and that what makes the hair look more modern, using the different products in a kind of ‘fashion’ way.”
