Marchesa's Second Revlon Collection is Even Better Than the First
By Klaudia Tirico / January 30, 2014
If you didn't get a chance to get your hands on the first Revlon by Marchesa collection, a series of glamorous nail appliqués, don't fret. The fashion house has teamed up with the drugstore brand again, except, this time, it's bigger and better.
While the nail appliqués were gorgeous, you'd have to take them off eventually. For their second collection, Marchesa co-founders Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig opted for something a little more permanent: beauty tools. The line features nail files, tweezers, a brush kit and compact, all inspired by the designers' runway looks.
"Our Revlon by Marchesa beauty tools collection includes an extensive range of products that are absolutely essential to a woman's beauty routine," said Craig. "The three designs we chose for this collection are quite romantic with an intricate lace pattern inspired by the dresses from the Spring/Summer 2014 runway show."
In addition to the beauty tools collection, the designers also created a limited-edition color collection featuring existing Revlon products housed in custom Marchesa-designed packaging. The lace pattern on each lipstick tube and nail polish bottle was inspired by Marchesa's most famous red carpet gowns. The collection is split into three categories of looks: Opulent, Daring and Romantic.
Opulent:
Super Lustrous Lipstick in Black Cherry, $7.99; Nail Enamel in Valentine, $4.99; Revlon by Marches Nail Appliques in Crown Jewels, $9.99.
Daring:
Super Lustrous Lipstick in Love that Red, $7.99; Nail Enamel in Chameleon, $4.99; ColorStay Liquid Eye Pen in Blackest Black, $8.99.
Romantic:
Super Lustrous Lipstick in Pink Cognito, $7.99; Nail Enamel in Gray Suede, $4.99; PhotoReady Translucent Finisher, $12.99.
The entire collection will benefit Half the Sky Movement, an initiative that works to prevent the oppression of women and girls around the globe. Revlon donated $15,000 in funding support for Half the Sky. "It was very important to us, on a personal level, that this collection have an added philanthropic element," said Chapman.
The Revlon by Marchesa Red Carpet Collection will be available for a limited time starting in early February, while the beauty tools collection is available at drugstores now.
