“The boys were inspired by the contrast in wealth and poverty in India,” Gucci Westman explained backstage at Rag & Bone’s fall 2012 show, where the Revlon Global Artistic Director created a face similarly based on contrasts to complement the collection. To set off the “luminous, porcelain” skin - achieved not with pale foundation but with “skin correctors and luminizers” - Gucci created a “rough” eye using Revlon ColorStay Creme Gel Liner in Black, Luxurious Color Eye Liner in Black and ColorStay Liquid Liner in Blackest Black.

“Patti Smith goes to India - that was Gucci’s idea,” explained Guido Palau, Redken Creative Consultant. “She’s a traveler, but she still has this rock and roll kind of feeling, which is a Rag & Bone signature.”

This translated to an almost “dreddy” hairstyle that Guido created by raking Redken Full Frame 07 Mousse through damp hair, which he then blow dried while twisting sections to add texture. Once dry, he added Rough Paste 12 to hair to “make it more clumpy” and matte. “When you have a brand that has a signature feeling, then you go with that,” he said.
