Escape to Paris with Ovando’s New Luxury Candles
If you live in New York City, you might be familiar with the widely popular Ovando floral design boutique in the West Village. The company is known for their stunning arrangements and has even created masterpieces for numerous fashion shows (Kate Spade, Dior, Altuzarra and Tommy Hilfiger, just to name a few). Founder Sandra de Ovando later expanded her business into candles, launching her first collection, Recueros de Mexico, in fall 2013. Now, she’s taking us to Paris with four new flames dubbed Souveniers de Paris.
The second chapter in Ovando’s fragrance dialogue was inspired by her young adult life in Paris. Each flame evokes a certain memory from Ovando’s childhood with her grandmother, from her family apartment to Parisian galleries and theaters. The candles act as souvenirs of her life, hence the name of the collection.
If you love florals, 55 Ave Foch is your candle. It’s an interpretation of Ovando’s family apartment in Paris. The flame gives off a beautiful scent of juniper berries, blood orange, raspberry, violet, panna cotta and benzoin. If woodsy notes are more your taste, Bois de Boulogne, a mix of coconut, labdanum, violet, leather accord, vetiver, sandalwood and oak moss is for you. The scent is like a walk in the park where Ovando strolled as a child. Parisian galleries and theaters come to life in Vernisage, featuring notes of mint, bergamot, raspberry, lotus, green tea and amber; while warm cozy nights by the fireplace round out the collection with L’Hiver. The calming scent is blended with notes of anise, cinnamon, cardamom, apple, leather accord, rosemary, vanilla, tobacco and honey.
