From metallic smoky eyes to edgy haircuts, the stars gave us plenty to talk about — and to inspire us in our own beauty routines. Here are the 10 hair and makeup looks we’re dying to copy ASAP.
When you’re rocking a lime green gown and gorgeous auburn hair, your lip color needs to bring its A-game — and Emma Stone’s coral pout definitely made a statement. Makeup artist Rachel Goodwin says, “I lined and filled in Emma’s lips with Chanel Precision Lip Definer in Rouge Candy, then buffed it off with a lip brush. I applied Revlon Ultra HD Lipstick in Tulip on top for a fun, modern effect.” Meanwhile, hair stylist Mara Roszak locked in Stone’s s-shaped waves with a generous helping of L’Oréal Paris Elnett Extra Hold Hairspray.
We loved that the Birdman actress paired an edgy lip color with her equally daring dress. Makeup artist Pati Dubroff compared the shade, L’Oréal Paris Infallible Pro-Last Color in Violet Parfait, to a “bruised plum.” P.S. Can we talk about that textured lob? So cool.
Chrissy Teigen may not be a movie star, but she could have fooled us last night with her Old Hollywood glam waves and glossy vino pout courtesy of makeup artist Mary Phillips. Good news — you can score that epic mouth with a quick trip to the drugstore. Phillips used Maybelline Color Sensational Creamy Matte Lipstick in Divine Wine. Her trick to getting a glossy finish with a matte lip color? Apply a layer of La Mer Lip Balm first.
We’ve spent all of awards season trying to figure out how Keira Knightley’s hair can be so effortless and elegant at the same time. Turn out, it’s all in the hair tool. Last night, hairstylist Ben Skervin kept her look “relaxed and romantic,” using the ghd curve classic wave wand and Fekkai Soleil Beach Waves Tousling Spray to create texture, topping off the style with a pretty Chanel headband. As for her makeup, Chanel celebrity makeup artist Kate Lee opted for an all natural look to “simply embellish what was already there.” Lee kept the lids bare with a swipe of Chanel Soft Touch Eyeshadow in Hasard in the socket line and along the lower lash line, while Knightley's lips received a veil of Chanel Rouge Coco Ultra Hydrating Lip Colour in Marie. “It’s the best version of a natural color,” said Lee, who also applied a “reverse lipliner” by “drawing concealer around the mouth to seal the color.”
We couldn’t take our eyes off of Sienna Miller’s perfectly chiseled cheekbones sculpted by Charlotte Tilbury. Using her namesake brand's Filmstar Bronze & Glow with the Powder & Sculpt Brush, Tilbury enhanced the hollows of the cheeks and the jaw line with the bronzer, and followed with the highlighter at the top of the cheekbones.
Jennifer Lopez took a break from her usual sultry hair and makeup and opted for a more princess-like look to go with her ethereal Elie Saab gown. Makeup artist Mary Phillips “stuck to a monochromatic palette of warm peaches and diffused bronzes around her eye, paired with a cool toned pink lip that had glacier blue undertones,” using L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche La Palette Nude (available in April) and L’Oréal Paris Infallible Pro-Last Color in Timeless Rose.
Gwyneth Paltrow let her pink gown and massive earrings do all the talking on the Oscars red carpet by keeping her buttery blonde hair slicked back and makeup neutral and pretty (with a lot of lash, of course). She even matched her nails to her gown with essie’s Mademoiselle polish applied by celebrity manicurist Tracey Sutter.
