Between the extra large, double French-twist, gorgeous floral nape crown (as we like to call it), and Oscar de la Renta gown, all eyes were on Parker.

In a sea of simple chignons and ballerina buns, designer Cynthia Rowley’s braided “doorknocker” shaped updo by Cutler Salon stylist Heather Packer reigned supreme. The ‘do also featured streaks of pastel that paid homage to Charles James’ color palette. “Charles James’ dresses were mostly all romantic dusty colors,” says Cutler Salon’s Rachel Bodt who created the color. “We wanted to take these beautiful pastels and wash them out to complement her dress. The colors were meant to look more like ribbon and less like bright strands of hair.”

 

Hairstylist Davy Newkirk opted for a “modern updo reminiscent of 50s glamour” for Jessica Alba. Want luminous strands like hers? Newkirk applied John Frieda Frizz Ease Secret weapon Touch-Up Creme “for a smooth and shiny texture.” 

 

Nicole Richie’s lilac hair can do no wrong. The textured, messy chignon added major cool-girl factor to her sexy Donna Karan Atelier number. Would you expect anything less?

Allison Williams upped the ante on her simple gown with a pretty, rolled chignon adorned with some serious bling. 

Divergent actress Maggie Q channeled Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly with her classic updo. Hairstylist Adir Abergel was inspired by the volume, drama and sleek neckline of Q’s Zac Posen gown. How did it stay put all night? Abergel was able to achieve maximum hold by criss-crossing large bobby pins when securing the bun.
