Male Beauty Pros Use What in Their Hair?!
The low-maintenance man has always been my cup of tea. When the metrosexual trend first started, I felt intense pressure to out-beauty all the guys I dated.
And then I ended up with a guy who uses, like, four products (Pantene, Gillette, American Crew leave-in and Chanel Gommage). I got him hooked on the last one.
Anyway, I think you'll find it refreshing to know that some of the cutest boys in the beauty industry are far from fastidious about their regimens, yet still clean up nicer than the prissy boys.
James Boehmer, Director of Global Artistry for NARS Cosmetics
He uses: Rodin Olio Lusso
At the Carmen Marc Valvo makeup test a few nights ago, I marveled James' artfully sculpted S-shape waves. They seemed to sprout out of his hairline, and the rest of his hair was neatly buzzed short. What's his secret? "I don't have time to think about a beauty regimen. I take what's left over after I put on my face oil and just rub it through my hair."
Guido Palau, Creative Consultant for Redken
He uses: body lotion from the gym
Guido told me that he usually skips a few days in between hair washes and often styles his famously thick, messy hair with body lotion at the gym.
Kevin Ryan, Hairstylist and founder of R Session Tools
He uses: "What's on my hands."
Today, at the hair and makeup test for Rebecca Taylor, Kevin told me he doesn't use any products in his hair. He attributed his funky messy many to "whatever residual products are left on my hands after styling someone." His beard is another story, however. "I take a buzzer and go around the whole head."
