Coachella brought out a ton of celebs dressed in their festival best this weekend, causing us to stalk our Instagram feeds with envy. And the beauty looks were on point, from Kylie Jenner’s mermaid hair to Coachella queen Kate Bosworth’s highly talked about braided part. Did you expect anything less? Hairstylist Bridget Brager was the woman behind Bosworth’s look, citing inspiration from the trendy '90s era. “The inspiration for Kate's festival hair was a nod to the '90s half up half down, grunge chic, slept in hair with a twist (or a braid!)." Here, she gives us the scoop on how to recreate this awesome look.
Step 1: "Starting on second day dry hair, take a small section (no larger than the width of the tip of your ring finger) of hair where you would normally have a center part. This section should end at the crown of your head, just before your head starts to curve.”
Step 2: “Once this section is created, begin to make a cornrow braid towards your forehead. Finish the braid where your hairline stops on your forehead and make two sections by splitting the third strand of the braid.”
Step 3: “To secure the braid, use a small bobby pin. Push the pin up the middle of the braid as flat to the head as possible. Split the lengths of the hair around the face to create framing.”
Step 4: “Next, sprinkle Kevin Murphy Powder Puff to lengths of hair for added texture. Then gather hair starting from the top of the ears back in to a half up half down knot.”
Step 5: “Secure with a clear elastic band. Let any pieces around the face fall down to tuck behind the ears. Finish the look using Bumble and bumble Does It All Hairspray."
If you’re heading to weekend two of Coachella this Friday, you’ve got to try this look.
