It’s Not A Beauty Product, But You Need It For Great Skin This Winter

While most of us are slathering on rich creams to keep our skin hydrated and protected outside in the cold, we don’t realize that being indoors in heated homes and offices can mess with our skin, too. That’s right, heat produced by indoor heating systems can really dehydrate your skin. It’s a common winter skincare mistake, but it is preventable with a humidifier.
“Air inside your home becomes very dry in winter, especially if your windows are closed and the heat is on,” says Dr. Stuart Kaplan, dermatologist and founder of luxury skincare brand Kaplan MD. “A humidifier will replace moisture in the air. If you do not have a humidifier, using a few open pans throughout the house, especially near any radiators, will also work.”
Humidifiers are available at all price points, making them an affordable fix for dry winter skin. Crane makes some great, affordable ones. Personally, I’m obsessed with the adorable animal humidifiers. But they have grown-up ones, too.
