Polished Beach Babe at Rachel Roy Spring 2013

By Kaitlyn Dreyling / September 11, 2012

"It's a girl that goes from an Uptown museum wearing Uptown clothes, but hangs in the galleries on the Highline downtown," lead makeup artist Bobbi Brown explained of the Rachel Roy girl for Spring 2013. As for the makeup look Bobbi created, she called it a "Nude Beach," which will also be the name of her Spring 2013 makeup collection. "It's a polished look, where as the beach looks are often not polished," she said. Bobbi used Sunlit Nude Sheer Color Cheek Tint (part of the Spring 2013 collection) on the eyelids and accented it with Burnt Sugar Metallic Eye Shadow and lots of Extreme Party Mascara. She gave the cheeks a sun-kissed glow with Antigua Illuminating Bronzer and finished the lips with a sheer beige color.

To complement the polished looks, Ted Gibson created a simple, classic ponytail with a little bit of texture to give a slight downtown feel. "The position of the ponytail is important," he explained. "Because if it's too low, then it ends up being very sophisticated and a little old. If it's too high, then it ends up being too cheerleader, so if you go in between, it makes it something a little special and not too contrived."

The nails by Essie were flirty and feminine, with BBF Boy Best Friend on the fingers and a fluorescent coral on the toes. Essie created that fluorescent look using Blanc, an opaque white, as a base and topping it off with Canyon Coral, a super bright hue.
