We still haven’t gotten Dior’s gorgeous Trianon collection out of our minds, and today the French luxury house hit us with another bit of major beauty news: Makeup artist Peter Philips has been named the new Creative and Image Director of Christian Dior Makeup.
If Philips’ name sounds familiar, it’s because he most recently served as creative director of makeup for Chanel, a position he held from 2008 until recently. At Chanel, Philips not only designed the brand’s runway makeup looks, but created some of the most coveted beauty products to hit counters in recent years: think sold-out nail polishes including Jade (2009) and Particulière (2010) and the entire Rouge Coco lipstick range.

There’s no word yet on whether Philips will be replacing backstage fixture Pat McGrath as makeup lead for Dior’s next runway show (though it seems likely), or who will be painting faces at Chanel next season. But one thing’s for sure: Dior’s makeup offerings are about to get even more desirable — and it might just be the next brand to make nail lacquer wait lists a thing.
