Chanel Brings Back the Stick Barrette
The Chanel show is always the icing on the cake of Fashion Month, and Karl Lagerfeld never ever disappoints. For Fall 2015, the runway was transformed into Brasserie Gabrielle, where models strutted around a mock café and even took a seat to have some croissants. Obviously the clothes were gorgeous, but there was one other thing that caught our eye: the hair accessory.
A closer look at both the "boy" (left, on Cara Delevingne) and "girl" (right, on Kendall Jenner and Lily Donaldson) hair and makeup looks at Chanel.
Hairstylist Sam McKnight and makeup artist Tom Pecheux created two different hair and makeup looks at the show this season, which gave off a boy vs. girl vibe. Some models rocked sleek “Lego” hair and soot-colored lids, while others received a loose French twist with a satin black ribbon tied at the hairline and a smoky cat eye. The most interesting part of the latter look was the stick barrette used to keep the French twist in place, basically a look that our grandmothers still wear to this day. Leave it to Chanel to bring back such an old school accessory. What’s next, the banana clip? We wouldn’t even mind one bedazzled with the infamous double Cs.
