7 Days, 7 Different Hairstyles Kaitlyn Dreyling
To kick off 2012, we decided to give ourselves a beauty challenge. I was given the task to switch up my hair look for an entire week. I hope you get inspired to try one of these easy ways to get out of a hair styling rut.
-
Day One: Brushed Out Curls Kaitlyn Dreyling
Aside from giving my long layers a nice blowout, this is my pretty standard look. I wrapped 2-inch sections around the John Frieda Loose Curls 1.25-inch curling iron ($29.99) and let the look set before I brushed out the curls for a softer look.
-
Day Two: French Braid Kaitlyn Dreyling
I love French braids, but I can only maneuver my fingers properly when I can actually see what I'm doing. So I tried braiding a small section around my face for a hint of braid that's not overdoing it. I secured the braid with bobby pins instead of a hair tie so the end of the braid wouldn't poke out. Plus, it's a great look for growing out bangs.
-
Day Three: Après Beach Kaitlyn Dreyling
While I often curl my otherwise straight hair, today I ditched my regular curling iron for the T3 SinglePass Whirl clampless iron ($130). I first sprayed my hair with Sachajuan Ocean Mist ($28) to give my hair some texture and then wrapped sections of hair around the iron. It gave my hair a more natural looking wave than a standard curl, and I loved the more casual feel.
-
Day Four: Top Knot Kaitlyn Dreyling
Skipping a night of washing my hair always means greasy roots in the morning. I disguised my unwashed hair with a messy top knot accented with a France Luxe Studded Headband ($84). The best way to volumize your bun is to tease hair before you twist it. I used Serge Normant Meta Luxe Hair Spray ($25) to spray down any stray frizzies.
-
Day Five: Teased Pony Kaitlyn Dreyling
I seldom ever wear my hair in a ponytail, but I was inspired to do a going out look that featured slicked back hair. After brushing and spraying my hair back with Oribe Superfine Strong Hairspray ($35), I secured the look with a black Goody hair tie. To amp up my limp pony, I teased it and sprayed the strands for hold. I definitely felt out of character with this look, but I still liked it!
-
Day Six: Faux Bangs Kaitlyn Dreyling
I was Inspired by Odile Gilbert's hairstyle from the Jill Stuart Spring 2012 runway. Odile wanted to give the illusion of bangs with a deep, sideswept look. I used the T3 SinglePass Whirl clampless iron ($130) for texture and then used my hands to create a deep side part. I twisted my hair to one side and secured with a bobby pin. I liked this super easy way to add interest to my look, and I'm sure I'll be sporting it again soon!
