Rooney Mara's Almost-Black Lipstick is the Only Makeup We Want to Wear Right Now
That's it. We're tossing our glitter, shelving our liquid liner and shoving our red lipstick to the back of the drawer. All we want to wear for every party right up through New Year's Eve is Rooney Mara's makeup from her appearance at the Dubai Film Festival last night.
Everything is right about her almost-black lipstick, from the texture (creamy; not too matte) to the shape (defined; not too harsh). But it's what's going on with the rest of the face that really makes it work. Rooney doesn't have much on the eyes except lots of lashes, and is only wearing the teeniest bit of blush on her creamy skin. Also important: her brows aren't too dark.
So, you on board? Good. It's easy to create this exact oxblood shade by mixing equal parts true red lip color with true black. Or if you're not up for playing mixologist, go for a color such as Make Up For Ever Rouge Artist Intense in 48 Satin Blackcurrant, $20. We'll meet you by the champagne.
