Mystery Body Lotion: The Big Reveal

You know I don’t like to keep you guys hanging. So enough of the suspense! That mystery body lotion I tested a couple weeks ago turns out to be from a brand I’ve used since I was a baby. Vaseline. I mean, who hasn’t used the classic formula at one point or another? These days, the brand has expanded and now makes creamy, sweet-scented body lotions. You wouldn’t expect such an elegant formula to be found at the drugstore, but whaddaya know? Vaseline has done it again.

The product I tested is a new formula that debuted in January: Vaseline Total Moisture, which includes a range of lotions that feel pretty darn awesome on the skin, but they also do a body good. They are made with a unique mixture of skin-loving ingredients that impart multiple lightweight layers of moisture, called a Stratys-3 complex. The lotion sinks right in, which is exceptional for something so intensely hydrating. Here are the three key ingredients in the lotion’s lovely potion:

• Glycerol Quat – A molecule discovered by Unilever (the company that manufactures Vaseline) that delivers optimal moisturization to very top layer of the skin’s surface. GQ acts as a powerful hydrating agent by attracting more water than other ingredients.
• Glycerin – A moisturizing ingredient that delivers immediate and long-lasting moisture at the core of the skin.
• HEU (Hydroxyethyl Urea) – A powerful little moisturizing ingredient designed to absorb and hold moisture in the deep layer of the surface skin.

The classic formula feels clean and leaves skin looking healthy and soft. The hydration is designed to last 24 hours! The aloe scented formula (the one I tested) provides 8 hours of hydration. The rich cocoa-butter formula imparts a bit of sexy glow and also offers 24 hours of hydration.
